About Lamar, MO

Lamar was laid out in 1856. It was named for Mirabeau B. Lamar, second president of the Republic of Texas. Lamar underwent multiple attacks by rebels during the Civil War. The Lynching of Jay Lynch, Age 28, took place in Lamar, Missouri on May 28, 1919.
