Thoroughbred Gelding for Sale in Melbourne, FL

Duke is a nice, well rounded horse with a lot of experience, has good work ethics, and great potential to do more! I have owned him for several wonderful years now and he has been a continual source of enjoyment in both work and play. Duke can be ridden in both Western and English disciplines and excels in both. His training has been focused on Barrel Racing, Western and English flat work, Intro - Training levels of Dressage, Driving various types of carts and work equipment, and has also been used for a lesson horse for novice riders. Duke is a very solid trail horse. He has the potential and willingness to further his skills in Dressage, jumping, and roping. Duke is good with beginners under supervision. He needs an intermediate level rider/owner who can work him on a steady basis and/or supervised riders with less experience. Duke is a bomb-proof ride, he is light in the mouth and can be ridden both by neck reining and with contact. He is very responsive to both seat and leg cues. Duke is currently being trained through the Tactical Horse Program* to be a tactical, civilian pre-first responder horse. Please see link for further information on the Tactical Horse Program although the website itself is still in the development stage. *http://www.tacticalhorse.com/ Duke is bold, willing to please, a fast learner, easy-keeper, a beautiful mover, and has speed when you need it. He enjoys having a job to do and strives to please in all settings.

About Melbourne, FL

Evidence for the presence of Paleo-Indians in the Melbourne area during the late Pleistocene epoch was uncovered during the 1920s. C. P. Singleton, a Harvard University zoologist, discovered the bones of a mammoth ( Mammuthus columbi ) on his property along Crane Creek, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from Melbourne, and brought in Amherst College paleontologist Frederick B. Loomis to excavate the skeleton.
