Arabian Mare for Sale in Grand Island, NE

Glory is a black Arabian cross filly, three to four years old. We rescued her from the killer buyers at an auction. We are just starting saddle work with her, and are going to do mostly ground driving until the middle of June, then she will be ready to start serious riding. Glory is very smart and will do great at barrel racing, endurance and trail riding, and probably english riding and jumping. She has a very petite build and will be a great ladies / kids horse. Glory is easy to catch, picks up her feet, stands tied and bathes. She loves attention, and will never leave if you just scratch her. Email if you feel you can give Glory a loving home. More info and pics at www. shadyacres6. com on the rescue horse page

About Grand Island, NE

In 1857, 35 German settlers left Davenport, Iowa, and headed west to Nebraska to start a new settlement on an island known by French traders as La Grande Isle, which was formed by the Wood River and the Platte River. The settlers reached their destination on July 4, 1857, and by September had built housing using local timber. Over the next nine years, the settlers had to overcome many hardships, including blizzards and conflicts with Native Americans. They set up farms but initially had no market to sell their goods until a market opened at Fort Kearny. When the Pike's Peak Gold Rush began, Grand Island was the last place travelers could obtain supplies before they crossed the plains.
