Quarter Horse Mare for Sale in Hernando, MS

Sophie is 14 YO grey amish broke mare. Purchased as a kids horse. Very smart but not for beginners. Told she could pull buggies although I have never witnessed it. Been trail ridden with no spook. Trots with cluck canters with a kiss works well on leg aids alone. She is soft in the mouth and gets frustrated at all the mixed signals of beginners and just wants to trot for us. She has a smooth trot and canter. My family needs a bombproof relaxed and forgiving horse to learn on and build our confidence. Experienced riders say she is a great horse, but for beginners she is too much for us. Stands for farrier. Will consider trade for youth horse.

About Hernando, MS

At the time of encounters by French and Spanish colonists, the Chickasaw people had long inhabited this area. France had developed colonial settlements along the Gulf Coast, to the north on the middle Mississippi River in what was called the Illinois Country, and in New France (present-day Quebec in Canada). An 18th-century French colonial log house (see first photo in gallery below) in Hernando is a reminder of typical dwellings built in their settlements in the Illinois country, such as in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. The French and French Canadians had a wide trading network with various American Indian tribes along this river, for instance in Natchez.
