Draft Mare for Sale in Monroe, NC

Rhaena is an approximately 14 year old Draft Cross mare. She is a registered North American Courser with the North American Destrier Horse Registry. Though we don’t know Rhaena’s Sire and Dam, Etalon Ancestry DNA Testing Results gave us a breakdown of her breeds, please follow this link for Rhaena’s full health profile, DNA reports, x-rays, etc. https://crekllc.com/rhaena. Gorgeous Dappled Bay Mare The first thing we want you to know about Rhaena is that she is the most comfortable to ride: very smooth and easy. Rhaena is a very quiet and gentle draft cross mare. She is 50% Standardbred and about 48% draft with just a pinch of Iberian (i.e., Andalusian, Lusitano, etc.) in her. Rhaena is strong and sturdy. Suitable for a woman or a large man. Rhaena’s assessments revealed to us she most likely has been driven more than ridden so far in her life. Rhaena stands 16.2-16.3 hands and weighs about 1300 lbs. She is currently barefoot. We rate Rhaena as an average keeper. Beautiful and gentle. Extremely quiet fox hunter. Suitable for an advanced beginner, husband trail horse, staff horse, field horse, or hill topper. WTCG on the buckle in the hunt field. Western, Ranch, fox hunting, works cows, and trail riding. sensible, sure footed, and confident. Bulldozer on the trail when you need her to go through anything. Loves the obstacle course, nothing she won’t try or go through. Exceptional mare for a great human partner. Solid feet, healthy, and sound! Unlike some horses that prefer the arena over trails or vice versa, Rhaena seems to enjoy both. We loved her from the moment we saw her. She reminded us of a Cleveland Bay, and we thought she was just gorgeous. Riding her, she was easy and gentle, so we decided to give her a shot in our program. We are very glad we did because she has excelled in everything, we’ve put her into. She has developed a very solid foundation for her future human partner to develop into whatever they both can think of. Rhaena is not a fast horse. She is more whoa than go. She is great on the ground, loads, ties, ground ties, does obstacles, stands politely for the vet and farrier, etc. Rhaena does not require heavy aids. She prefers light aids, especially legs. She is willing to move forward with light pressure. This is a mare that wears you out to ride, you do not have to peddle or “kick”, she goes along quietly. She loves people and wants relationships with people. Rhaena graduated from our program in November 2024. She has been healthy and sound since her arrival and as always PPE is welcome at client expense. She is current on Coggins, vaccines, teeth float, hoof trimming. She is very fuzzy right now with a thick winter coat and does not require blanketing. Hardy and study awesome mare. Most recent wellness vet exam February 13, 2025. We believe transparency gives rise to successful rehoming of our horses. Please visit my seller’s profile to view our rehoming philosophy and everything you get in addition to the horse when you choose a CREK equine partner. OPEN BIDDING ON THEHORSEBAY.COM ENDS ON 3/05 @ 3:30 PM CT. More information is available on the website, including an UTD vet inspection, Coggins, video, images, and the owner's contact information to ask questions, request information, or make arrangements to come to visit.

About Monroe, NC

Monroe was founded as a planned settlement. In 1843, the first Board of County Commissioners, appointed by the General Assembly, selected an area in the center of the county as the county seat, and Monroe was incorporated that year. It was named for James Monroe, the country’s fifth president. It became a trading center for the agricultural areas of the Piedmont region, which cultivated tobacco. Racial segregation established by a white-dominated state legislature after the end of the Reconstruction era persisted for nearly a century into the 1960s.
