Fjord Gelding for Sale in Isanti, MN

Up for consideration, Reg. Norwegian Fjord Horse Graceful Acres Danby 15 yr old Gelding 14.3 1/2 H in Minnesota! Danby was started by the Amish to drive double/single. He was used double mostly, and started under saddle for trail riding. He has been willing and comfortable out on the road, as well as in the forest, stands well for farrier & has been shod many times, leads & ties, baths well. Great for vet, recently had teeth floated, vaccines and Coggins done for 2024. He was recently wormed with Panacur Power Pack. Had Ivermectrin in July. He is gentle, willing, easy to catch, load and haul. He is a big pet. He is not spooky, if he gets concerned he will look at the object and stop, and walks around it with some space. Traffic (both vehicle & foot) and dogs do not faze him. He does not kick, rear, bolt or bite. He loves treats tho! In the herd he is lower on the totem pole. He gets along great with any other horse put in with him, and even befriends the new ones well. He gets left alone when the other ones go out, and is ok with it tho he will pace the fence at first and neigh. He is very respectful of electric wire and will not push against the fences. all summer he only had one stable mate, that left often to drive the cart. Cons: Danby has had a few bouts with Laminitis and has to be kept on drylot. Great farrier work has taken good care of his feet, we do have xrays showing some mild rotation in 2023. He had been kept shod into the winter, but left barefoot until now. Unfortunately with all the recent rain, and my pen area has grass growing like mad, he came up lame last week. I have just had him shod 8/15/24 and he is already much improved. I have not been able to continue his training as I had health issues keeping me off horses for a few years. I did some trail riding this early summer. He does not know much, but he did what was required, walk, trot, stop, back. I did not get him into a canter, and being a driving horse, which only requires trot, I did not encourage faster movement. We did take a couple starter lessons in Dressage, just for fun, he did respond really well to that. But I could not continue as I had surgery on ankle & shoulder. The only reason Iโ€™m selling him is his height. He was bred to be a Dressage type, taller and not as heavy. I am short, and he is tall. He will come up to picnic tables, rocks, trees, fences for me to mount, but I need something shorter! I have known him since he was a weanling, he was bred by a friend and sold to my business partner to add to our carriage business, but we never really needed him as we had a trained herd to pick from. We retired from the business and I got Danby for myself, and have loved him and lightly used him up to now. Heโ€™s been gently raised and handled all his life, trusts people, and loves to be around us. His previous owner fed him like a draft horse, not realizing his breeding was not meant to be heavy. He did not realize how it affected the body. Danby is now down to the proper weight, and is managed on drylot just fine until last week. I love Danby, he is the most beautiful of all Fjords Iโ€™ve encountered, and I really hate to see him go, but he deserves a home that will enjoy him and use him. I donโ€™t need a pasture ornament, and my other Fjord is smaller, and so well trained that anyone and everyone uses him and are not intimidated by his size. I have his papers and xrays to add, if any other questions, just ask. I want a GOOD home for him, and will reserve the right to find it! Lowering price to 3๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽˆ as am motivated to move him to a place he can be enjoyed and used, and that does not have grass!
