Friday is a 14.1-and-a-half-hand, beautiful, buckskin, registered Missouri Fox Trotting gelding. Like all of our horses for sale, Friday was bred, born, raised, started, and trained on our family breeding farm in Marshfield, Missouri. Friday was born on April 10th, which just happened to fall on Good Friday in 2020, hence his name. PEDIGREE: Friday’s sire, Southern Sunrises Hotshot, has been named one of the Top 5 Breeding Stallions for four years by the Missouri Foxtrotting Horse Breed Association (MFTHBA). You can read this article at mfthba.com/southern- sunrises-hotshot. TEMPERAMENT: Friday is smart, sensible, and laid back. He is curious and inquisitive and wants to please you! A lot of times, I find myself calling him “Good Boy Friday!” He is easy to train. He will try something once and just gets better and better and more willing to try it again! He is friendly and wants to be with you. If he sees you out in the pasture, he will come to see you and investigate what you are doing. EXPERIENCE: Ever since Friday, when he was born on our family farm, he has been around people and other horses. We spend a lot of time with them when they are born, tying them up, brushing them, hugging them, lifting their legs, hauling them in a horse trailer when they are weaned, etc. Friday was started lightly by Dad and me when he was 2 and a half years old. He was gentle the very first time he was ridden. You will see Dad slide off his back end the first time he was ridden in the video! Friday has been trail-ridden extensively in various trail-riding settings: our pastures, crossing creeks and rough terrain, around livestock, barking dogs, pigs, and goats. He has been ridden on organized trail group rides, including Stockton Lake in Missouri, Busiek State Park, Compton Hollow, and Eminence, Missouri Horse Camp, where we spent several days camping overnight. He has been ridden in Marshfield, Missouri’s Independence Day Parade. He has been ridden by inexperienced, beginning riders. Friday has been desensitized to about everything we can think of. The first time we hooked him up to a harness and pulled a 2- 2-wheel cart, he walked right off. He is very curious about things. He has a beautiful natural lope that he enjoys doing! He will side pass, neck rein, stop on your seat, and move off your legs with simple and soft cues. GAIT: The first time Friday was asked to gait, he naturally did the smoothest foxtrot I’d ever experienced. We have never felt it necessary to “work on” or improve his natural, smooth foxtrot gait. It’s delightful! CONFORMATION: I have always heard Dad say, “When it comes to your breeding program, the 1st thing you have to have is a good disposition/temperament. The 2nd thing is good straight feet and legs.” I couldn’t agree more. Friday has nice, straight legs and straight, solid, strong feet. He has a pretty little head and a nice, natural tail carriage with the cute wrinkle and crinkle when he is gaiting. Please call, text, or e-mail if you have any questions and would like to make arrangements to come ride! PLEASE COME TO MARSHFIELD, MISSOURI TO EXPERIENCE GOOD FRIDAY SUNRISE FOR YOURSELF!
