Gypsy Vanner Gelding for Sale in Lancaster, PA
Jasper is a Gypsy Vanner/Haflinger cross who stands 13.1 hands tall and is 12 years old.
Don’t let his short legs fool you, this guy can really take up some leg and keep up with the big horses.
Unlike most haffy crosses, Jasper is happy to trot and canter for you, but also more than happy to take it easy at a walk. You can ride him both English and Western attire with ease.
Jasper knows both his leads and does not “run” into a canter.
We think Jasper would be a good lesson therapy horse. Personally, we have used him for my sister-in-law who has autism with no issues. He can handle a tense and nervous rider (including squeezing legs) without batting an eye. Loud noises coming from a rider do not bother him as well. A rider who is a little heavy in the hands is easily forgiven by Jasper, and he will not rut and or get rude.
Jasper is being started over cross rails and does show potential.
Tarps, dogs, walkers, kids, strollers, ramps, traffic, etc. so not bother him in any way.
In the barn, Jasper is easy to handle. He cross ties, picks up all four feet, saddles without moving, is not cinchy, and bridles easily (no head tossing or running away).
Jasper enjoys a cool bath and a good grooming as well!
In the pasture he is the low man and stays out of trouble. He can live indoors or outdoors with no issues. No founder history and has great feet. Barefoot, sound, with no blemishes or needed maintenance. Easy to catch, and a lot of fun to have around.
I ride him double with my toddler! He’s a blast! Jasper is supposed to be Amish broke to drive, however we have not driven him.

About Lancaster, PA
Originally called Hickory Town, the city was renamed after the English city of Lancaster by native John Wright. Its symbol, the red rose, is from the House of Lancaster. Lancaster was part of the 1681 Penn's Woods Charter of William Penn, and was laid out by James Hamilton in 1734. It was incorporated as a borough in 1742 and incorporated as a city in 1818. During the American Revolution, Lancaster was the capital of the United States for one day, on September 27, 1777, after the Continental Congress fled Philadelphia, which had been captured by the British.
