He is a Belgian/QH cross and very handsome! He has a very nice, thick build and good bone structure, but is still light enough to be athletic and has great endurance. Applesauce has spent the last 6 years on a guest ranch in AZ. He has countless miles on the trails in AZ, NM, and CO. He was ridden by many guests on the ranch on trail rides and camping trips. In the off season, he was also used as a personal horse for the ranch owner. He has gone out and checked, gathered, and sorted cattle. He’s been on many hunting trips in NM and CO. He’s been used to ride up into the mountains as well as pack. Applesauce does great with camping trips and being tied out on the high line. He just got back from his latest hunting trip a few weeks ago. He is brave to ride out alone/away from the group, in the front leading, or riding behind. He steps very quietly over deadfall, crosses water, steps over ditches, up and down banks etc. He will ride with saddle bags, gun scabbard, and back pack. He is sure footed and brave. Applesauce walks and jogs nicely, lopes across the fields, but needs a little work to lope balanced circles in the arena. He will neck rein, do slow spins, side pass to open gates, etc. Applesauce gets along in the herd with a mixed group of mares and geldings. He is currently barefoot. He stands for grooming and saddling.
