Rastus is an adorable 12 year old John mule that stands 14.1 hands. He is out of a gaited mare. Rastus has a very nice, ground covering walk and is able to go all day long. He can ride with slower QHs or keep up with bigger riding buddies as well. When we say that Rastus is quiet and gentle, we mean he is quiet and gentle. Rastus is gentle enough for inexperienced riders to get on and ride down the trail, but still fun for the more experienced riders to enjoy. He is able to adjust to the rider on his back. He is trustworthy and the type of mule you can relax and enjoy your ride on. Rastus has been ridden in all different environments and regions of the country. He is used to a lot of terrain or riding on flatter land. He is sure footed and careful in more technical trails. Rastus rides out alone or anywhere in the group. He steps over deadfall, up and down banks, crosses water, etc. He has been on hunting trips and just got back from CO elk hunting a couple weeks ago. He wears a britchen with no problems. Will pack saddle bags, and carry a gun scabbard. He is comfortable on overnight camping trips and being tied on the high line. Rastus has been driven double a lot. He has been on wagon trains and in parades. Rastus stands very nicely for grooming and tacking up. You can Mount him from the ground, a mounting block, a rock, a stump, or just about anything you find on the trail. He is easy to clip and stands well for the farrier. He is currently shod on all four feet. If you’re looking for a safe, experienced mount that is also eye catching, be sure to check out Rastus!
