Saddlebred Gelding for Sale in Holton, MI
SB Pistol Pete aka Elvis is available for your consideration! He’s an 18 year old, 15.3-16 hand saddlebred gelding. I really don’t want to sell him, but it’s the best option for both of us so a good home is a must. Not beginner safe, more suited for an intermediate/advanced rider. Could be a good project for a youth working with a trainer. Elvis has an amazing personality and will try anything once for you. He knows a few tricks and is always willing to learn more.
He is double registered, both pinto and saddlebred. I’ve done a few open shows with him and he does really well at shows, better than at home. As far as I know, he’s done jumping, saddleseat, and western pleasure in his old homes. I’ve done a bit of everything with him including ground driving and trails. We’ve crossed ditches and shallow water, but he does not do good on trails without another horse. He does best with a buddy and is anxious when he’s alone, but he’s mostly fine once he starts moving. He’s better inside alone than he is outside.
I’ve had him for a little over a year and a half and he’s had little health issues during that time. He does have aural plaque on both ears, but it’s kept at bay with a cream and fly mask during warmer months. It only bothers him in his right ear. There’s a blind spot in his right eye which makes him very looky and he’s fairly spooky when not under consistent work. He needs to be on pasture 24/7 as he gets anxious in stalls and develops ulcers, loses weight/muscle super fast, needs shoes, and overall is more uptight and stressed out. When outside 24/7, he doesn’t need shoes and visibly is more relaxed. He has a club foot that doesn’t bother him at all. My vet and farrier said it’s not worth correcting because of his age and it has no effect on him.
He has so much potential and could be an amazing pleasure horse with consistent work. Elvis is super fun to ride and has comfortable gaits when relaxed. He rides western and english and goes in a solid snaffle most of the time. He could really go in any direction you want besides speed. He can get unbalanced at the canter and prefers to go slower. I ride him bridleless quite often on days he’s calm and he loves it. Don't let his age fool you, most people who meet him think he’s still in single digits!
He’s UTD on vaccinations, has a current coggins, just got his feet and teeth done, and sheath was recently cleaned. He does need some sedation for sheath cleaning, but is really good for vaccinations. He’s decent for the farrier and dentist. Elvis has been pastured with all types of horses and ponies and he’s gotten along with almost all of them, including a mini. He will go with whatever supplements he has left along with some tack and other things. Located in Holton MI. Message for more info. Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdwpZgJLvmI

About Holton, MI
Brunswick is a small unincorporated community in section 13 of the township at 43°25′59″N 86°2′25″W / 43.43306°N 86.04028°W / 43.43306; -86.04028 ( Brunswick, Michigan) on M-120 at the eastern boundary with section 18 of Sheridan Township in Newaygo County. It was founded about 1875 as the point where the stage coach road met the Pere Marquette Railway line between Muskegon and White Cloud. Passengers and mail were taken north from here to Hesperia. The settlement was first called "County Line" and later "Marionville", after the first postmaster, Isaac Marion. However, the post office, established May 1881, was called "Dash." It was renamed Brunswick, Muskegon County in September 1897 and transferred to Newaygo County in April 1943.
