Meatball...The chunkiest thing north of the Mason Dixon line. He even has butt cheeks! Standing at an incredibly freakishly stout 15 hands, Meatball is suitable for just about anyone of any size. At 10 years old he’s got a lot of life left to live. Oh, and he rides and drives single or double. Shockingly for his size, Meatball is pretty athletic and loves to work! Meatball is SMOOTH!! Never putting up a fuss, he will walk, trot and canter. Seriously, you DON'T need a crop or have to pull a hammy to get him to go. But to be honest, he COULD use some more work in getting that canter a little more balanced and rated, but he isn’t out of control or anything of that sort. Just don’t expect to win a Western Pleasure class. He really tries to get his leads but some days are better than others. We have started him over cross rails with ease. I don’t think he understands the purpose, but he does it with a smile so who are we to complain? Meatball man digs the trails. He’ll hit the road or dive through the woods. Totally doesn’t mind traffic, bridges, cars, mud, logs, hills, tractors, all that jazz. Exceptionally good with dogs. My Cattle Dog desperately tries to get him to run so he can chase him on a daily basis. Meatball blanky looks at him. He’ll go out alone or in a group. Being confident, he usually likes to be the leader. Meatball is a little submarine and LOVES water. No water is too deep for him. He floats like a little brown bobber. Meatball has never offered to bolt, rear, bite, kick, strike, etc. His Kryptonite is chickens and hoses for baths. He doesn’t care much for chickens, although he can squish them with one step. The worst thing he does is freeze and stare at them. He does it every time, and lucky for him I don’t have any chickens show him daily. When bathing, I recommend bathing him outside, and start at his legs and work your way up his body. After that he loves it. He will dance if you do it a bit too fast for his liking. This is something we will keep working on. What can I say, he’s a big wimp. In the barn he is kind, friendly, in your pocket and loves to be groomed. He is good to tack, tie, catch, and load. He is good about picking up his feet but gets a little lazy on the backs if you let him! Meatball will go Western or English! We feel Meatball will do great in many home possibilities. He would be good for an advanced beginner or someone wanting a horse that can be both whoa and go when asked. Personally I think he would be awesome at some low level XC stuff or even fox hunting! Meatball came to us because his former home said he was too lazy for plow work! He has REALLY enjoyed life as a riding horse here! His new home will love how personable, goofy and loving he is. Truly, he is a horse that never has bad intentions! He is barefoot, sound and has clean legs. Meatball is really a good ole’ boy who will just make you smile everytime you see him!
