Paint Gelding for Sale in Elkton, MD
DJ is a 7 yo TB/Paint X gelding. He stands a solid 15.1 and is moderately built (somewhere btw a TB and a stock horse). He got a late start in life and really didn’t begin working consistently until the spring of last year. He became a 4-H project for a novice rider and for being a green horse he took great care of her. By the end of the season they were jumping 2'3" courses and schooling 2'9". He hacks quietly, has lovely form over fences and is a nice mover. He has had some basic western schooling so he has had lots of practice with obstacles and started to understand the concept of neck reining. He can turn his english trot into a lovely western jog the instant you start stitting trot!! DJ is a cautious minded horse and has come a long way in building his confidence, but still needs a reassuring, quiet rider to sometimes help him through things he may not understand. We feel he still needs the guidance and security of and experienced rider therefore we will not place him with a beginner!. Last year was quite a learning curve for him as he began to discover his many talents.
He started the season with several small schooling shows, weekly lessons, trail rides, and horse camp which included bridges, pool noodles, umbrellas, and tarps! He then moved on to Cecil County Fair, where he lived at Fair Hill for a week and was a rock star, totally cool with being stuck in a stall and all the commotion of the fair. At the fair he showed in English, Western, bareback and games. We finished up the season with some small jumper shows and the Northeast Christmas parade, where he debuted as Rudolph!!

About Elkton, MD
The town was founded by Swedish mariners and fisherman from Fort Casimir who settled the area in 1694. They called their settlement Head of Elk, as it was the head of navigation of the Elk River. The town saw several actions during the American Revolutionary War. On Aug. 25, 1777, Sir William Howe's Anglo-German army (13,000 British soldiers and 5,000 Germans) landed on the Elk River and marched 11 miles north to Head of Elk.
