Quarter Horse Mare for Sale in Greenup, KY
Ruthie is an exceptional young mare that is showing great potential in
performance events. She has been started right, with great turnaround,
good stops, and will not miss a lead. She has a good face and works
great off of leg cues. She has been to a working cow horse show, and was
shown in Western Riding, where she did excellent for first show. This
filly is a dependable ride. She has been on cattle a handful of times
and shows a great deal of interest. Goes in with ears up and really
paying attention, very interested in tracking. She has also been on
the cutting dummy a couple of times. Ruthie is put together very nice,
and comes from excellent breeding. Peppy San Badger, Doc Quixote, and
Colonel Freckles all on papers. Her sire's foals have earned over $25,
000 NCHA winnings. Please email for pictures or more information.
About Greenup, KY
Greenup was laid out in 1803 and 1804 by Robert Johnson, a pioneer and legislator who owned the land. Upon the formation of Greenup County (named for the former congressman Christopher Greenup, who later served as governor) out of land separated from Mason County, Johnson's settlement was chosen to be the seat of government and adopted the name "Greenupsburg". Its post office was erected on July 1, 1811. The state assembly formally established the town on February 4, 1818, and incorporated the city thirty years later on February 29, 1848. The name was shortened to "Greenup" on March 13, 1872, partially to avoid confusion with Greensburg.
